ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

www.kahalanui.com

Established in 2005, Kahala Senior Living Community, Inc. dba Kahala Nui is Hawaii’s premier life plan community focused on serving seniors in the state of Hawaii and fostering the island tradition of ʻohana (family). A socially responsible, 501(c)(3) organization, Kahala Nui is a not-for-profit corporation led by a voluntary board of directors. As a life plan community, Kahala Nui provides a continuum of care that includes independent living, assisted living, memory support, and nursing care.

For over 18 years, Kahala Nui and its associates have been dedicated to serving the unmet needs of seniors in Hawaii by providing a continuum of high quality residential, community- based (e.g. Live Well and Kahala Nui at Your Service), and health care services enabling seniors to live a gracious Hawaiian lifestyle with dignity, respect, trust and friendship. Kahala Nui occupies a unique position within the senior living space in Hawaii.

More than 80% of inbound inquiries are referrals from current residents, and there is a multi- year waiting list of applicants eager to join the community. Another differentiator is its refundable deposit model, which is unique among life plan communities in Hawaii. Kahala Nui has a strong balance sheet, which allows it to operate from a position of financial strength and evaluate a portfolio of potential long-term strategic opportunities.

STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITIES

Hawaii has one of the longest life expectancy in the country, and it is projected that over 30% of the population will be 60 years or older by 2035. The waitlist to join Kahala Nui continues to grow, and now approaching 600 applicants. The need for life plan communities is robust now and demand is increasing. As such, opportunities to grow through acquisition, expansion, or to develop another campus are being considered. Some seniors prefer to age in place, living in their own homes instead of relocating to a life plan community. Kahala Nui offers Live Well at Iwilei, a successful brand extension that operates an adult care center in urban Honolulu.
There are opportunities to expand into additional services.
