Navian Hawaii is a kama’aina not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organization serving the island of Oahu for 45 years. Created, supported, and nurtured by the community, Navian Hawaii is dedicated to upholding its sacred duty to serve those facing life limiting conditions and the terminally ill throughout the entire community, regardless of their ability to pay. Navian Hawaii, formerly known as Hospice Hawaii, Inc. is a legacy hospice provider offering traditional hospice as a Medicare provider, as well as a growing palliative care program. Closely partnered with the state’s only pediatric hospital, Navian Hawaii also operates a thriving pediatric hospice program. Additionally, the Navian Hawaii Kailua Home is a licensed 5-bed hospice residential unit that has been serving our community for almost 30 years.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Effective Planning and Innovative Communication (EPIC 'Ohana) is a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to the holistic well-being of individuals, families, and communities in Hawaii. What started out as an innovative Family Group Decision Making pilot project in 1996 has since grown into a suite of programs that are integrated with the Child Welfare System (CWS), giving voice to youth, families and communities. In addition to providing innovative programs that benefit youth and families, EPIC 'Ohana advocates for systemic change.

EPIC 'Ohana actively partners with governmental entities such as the Judiciary and Attorney General’s Office, playing a crucial role as a convenor, facilitator, and trainer for collaborative decision-making for youth and families who are experiencing foster care. Their commitment to enhancing family and child well-being is rooted in principles of trauma effectiveness, integration of Native Hawaiian culture and values, and a deep respect for the lived experiences of individuals and families. EPIC 'Ohana has deeply integrated lived experience and peer mentoring into the fabric of the organization; a fourth of its staff have had direct experience with the foster care system as youth, birth parents, care givers, or kin.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Executive Director (ED), Kuhikuhina Nui, mindful of the values of aloha at the birthing of EPIC ‘Ohana Inc. (EPIC), shall be responsible for assuring that EPIC, has a long-range vision and strategy that achieves its mission and has the fiscal and human resources to successfully implement that vision and strategy. The ED is responsible for EPIC’s administration, operations, and programs. The ED reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for maintaining EPIC’s key relationships in Hawai‘i and nationally; for embracing and modeling EPIC’s values; and for authentically representing EPIC on local, state, and national collaborative endeavors. In all activities, the ED is mindful that they are a steward of the culture of the organization and the well-being of the families, children, and young people EPIC serves.

The ED must demonstrate an active commitment to EPIC’s mission and vision and strive to incorporate EPIC’s values in all aspects of daily work. The ED is responsible for carrying out the mission and working with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan, and to honor these commitments and embed them in all aspects of our work:

The Hawaii State Bar Association (HSBA) has been a part of Hawaii since 1899, when the Association was founded by a handful of volunteer lawyers. Incorporated in 1985, HSBA became the professional trade association for all lawyers licensed to practice law in Hawaii in 1989.

The mission of the HSBA is “to unite and inspire Hawaii’s lawyers to promote justice, serve the public, and improve the legal profession”. Over 8,000 members of the HSBA are located all over the world and are involved in every aspect of community, business, government and nonprofit sectors of society.

HSBA’s highest impact programs include: Continuing Legal Education, delivering quality education to the legal community to promote integrity and competency of lawyers in Hawaii; vetting appointments to the Hawaii State Courts at all levels, subject to approval by the state senate; the coordination of volunteer attorneys who invest thousands of hours annually in pro bono work and community activities; and the HSBA Leadership Institute, which fosters professional growth and enhances leadership skills of future leaders of the Bar.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Executive Director (ED) of the HSBA serves as the face of the organization and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of a dedicated and tenured staff. The ED is responsible for oversight of HSBA programs and activities and is accountable for the fiscal soundness of the association. The ED participates in long- and short-term planning, provides input to the HSBA Board in policy analysis and strategic decision-making, and oversees a diverse range of members, uniting them under a shared vision. The ED reports to the Board of Directors.

The ED provides executive leadership and serves as a liaison with local, state, and federal elected and appointed officials in the executive, legislative and judicial branches on matters concerning the association and strategically supports the judiciary with its legislative package and other initiatives to enhance the legal profession. The ED also serves as a liaison with various legal service providers and the Hawaii State Bar Foundation.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Hawaii, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children and their families. RMHC Hawaii has been providing programs and partnerships aimed at improving the lives of children in Hawaii and the Pacific region for more than three decades. It operates two residential facilities to assist families that have children with serious health conditions and must fly to Oahu for critical medical treatments not available where they live. Lengths of stay vary depending on diagnosis but can range from several days to several months. The House strives to foster emotional, spiritual, and compassionate support to all who live within—keeping families close to the medical care they need and to each other.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The President of RMHC Hawaii will lead in a mission-driven environment, providing strong leadership to increase the organization’s visibility, funding, and development of programs. The President reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for guiding the Board in developing the vision and strategy for the organization and for the successful implementation of that strategy. Together, they will ensure the organization’s relevance to the community and RMHC Hawaii’s accountability to its constituents. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The President & CEO is a key leadership position within the community who will be responsible for ensuring the organization's effectiveness in lifting and strengthening the nonprofit sector to effectively meet their missions and serve their respective communities. Reporting to an engaged and supportive Board of Directors, the President & CEO is accountable for strategic planning, fiscal integrity, and the delivery of high-quality services and programs to Hawaiʻi’s non-profit organizations.

Because of its unique role as a convener, HANO has credibility to bridge the gap between funders, nonprofit organizations, and communities. For example, HANO was instrumental in the formation of the Funder Hui, which resulted in a rapid, coordinated philanthropic response to the COVID pandemic in Hawaiʻi. In addition, HANO provided technical assistance to nonprofits to navigate government grant and loan programs that were critical to their survival. The relationships and trust HANO built with the Funder Hui allowed it to quickly mobilize support for residents who were directly impacted by Maui’s recent wildfire disaster.

As a trusted representative of the non-profit community, HANO occupies a trusted position as an advocate, mediator, educator, and facilitator. In response to its recent successes, funders are now looking to HANO to take on projects and stand-up new programs to grow the capacity of the nonprofit sector. The organization’s budget has tripled in size in the last several years, and HANO is poised for future growth.
